Purified Water System Applications

What Is A Purified Water System?

A purified water system is a water treatment solution that removes various contaminants and compounds to produce extremely high-purity water. It’s an essential piece of kit for manufacturing environments, research laboratories, and cleanrooms. Without it, particles in the water could cause pipe blockages, damage machinery, and make final products unsafe at worst, or at best, unstable.

At SaintyCo, we’ve engineered an array of purifying water systems to clean water of particulates, bacteria, organics, pyrogens, and ions. Our systems are designed to produce, store, and distribute water that complies with global pharmacopeia standards. The pure water is used for things like washing product containers, rinsing equipment, feeding water for injection (WFI) systems, and the general preparation and formulation of apyrogenic and sterile medicines.

  • “We’ve got the double-pass RO purified water system running in our packaging line for something like 8 or 9 months now. It was our first time ordering from SaintyCo so we weren’t sure what to expect but to speak the truth, they couldn’t have been more helpful and the engineering is immaculate. Before we had some issues with residue in rinse cycles but the SaintyCo system has cleared that up. We run the autoflush overnight so first shift is ready to go.”

    JJ Florence
Head of Production, MBK Dosing Systems
  • “The water purifier is in our cosmetics line (mostly toner and face serum – production). We’re pulling around 120 liters a batch and the UV sterilization has saved as a load of headaches, we used to get weird counts in our post-fill micro tests but now it’s clean every time. Quality is outstanding. Also the QC guys love being able to export everything straight into their reports, even though the control screen seemed overkill for what we need, it’s improved operational efficiency and was well within budget parameters.”

What’s the difference between RO water, deinoized water, and WFI?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a technique of filtering water through a semi-permeable membrane to remove most dissolved solids. Deionization (DI) uses ion exchange to remove charged ions after RO which gives a higher purity. Water for injection (WFI) must be further distilled of vapor compressed to be acceptable for parenteral use.

Do SaintyCo sytems produce PW and WFI?

Purified water (PW) and water for injection (WFI) are produced using different methods. SaintyCo has systems that will achieve both outcomes, in separate units. PW is generally made via RO + EDI whereas WF needs multi-effect distillation or vapor compression to meet global standards.

How often should the water purification filters be replaced?

There are many factors at play here, including the initial water quality and how heavily the system is used. As a guidelines, pre-filters may need changing around 3-6 months, RO membranes every 1-2 years, UV lamps annually, and EDI modules every 3-5 years. Our units include monitoring tools to alert you.

Water Quality And Grades

At SaintyCo, our purified water systems produce water that meets global quality specs in industries like pharma, biomedical, and food industries. This includes configurations to satisfy various standards and regulations, including:

  • USP: US Pharmacopeia for non-perenternal pharmaceutical use with conductivity <1.3 µS/cm at 25°C
  • ASTM Type 1,2, 3: Type 1 (ultrapure) used for HPLC, Type 2 for general lab prep, and Type 3 for rinsing
  • CLRW (Clinical Laboratory Reagent Water): Follows CLSI standards for clinical diagnostics like hematology
  • AAMI ST108: For sterile processing and medical device reprocessing
  • HPLC-grade: Extremely low TOC (<10 ppb), <1 µS/cm, and <1 cfu/mL

Whatever your use case, SaintyCo has an appropriate system that’s audit-ready.

Distribution Loop And Return Flow

We’ve engineered high-efficiency loops that maintain flow velocity, minimize dead legs and prevent microbial buildup. Our design principles include constant recirculation at ≥1.5 m/s. This prevents stagnation. Sloped piping makes sanitization easier and enables full draining. To further reduce spots where microbes could fester, our systems have zero dead leg valves and use orbital welded joints, so the inside surface is smooth and free of crevices. We also offer double piping systems and balanced return pressure using VFD pumps and automated balancing valves. Our various loop designs cover both hot or ambient systems.

Do purified water systems support CIP (online sanitization)?

Yes, we manufacture PW systems for ot water sanitization, generally around 80 to 85°C. Some of our models are compatible with other protocols like chemical sanitization, so if you have a custom request please let us know.

Where can I find prices for SaintyCo purified water systems?

Because we offer such a massive variety of products with various price-altering specifications, we quote customers based on their requests. For a tailored quote, please contact us directly.

Will a purified water system integrate with existing SCADA or BMS?

Yes, SaintyCo water purifying systems come with PLC panels from major brands like Siemens. Also they support standard communication protocols ilke Modbus, OPC UA, and Ethernet/IP.

How do SaintyCO water purifiers manage microbial control?

Our systems include features like TOC analyzers, temperature probes, and conductivity meters. Most models also come with sampling valves for regular microbial testing.

What materials are SaintyCo purified water systems made from?

Systems are designed for ASME BPE guidelines, sp piping is fully drainable and all wetted parts are made from 316L stainless steel. Our units typically use orbital welding and EDPM or PTFE gaskets.
