Pulverizing Machine Applications
At SaintyCo, we specialize in pulverizing machines for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical processing. Common applications include milling granules and dry intermediates; size reduction of excipients like lactose, starch, and MCC; grinding rejected tablets for reformulation, and pulverizing ingredients like dried herbs and plant roots for supplements and traditional medicine. Our machines can also be used in the food, cosmetics, and chemicals industries.

What Is A Pulverizing Machine?
A pulverizing machine is designed to turn solid materials into fine powders. It does this through grinding, crushing, or milling processes. Raw materials are fed into a grinding chamber where they’re pulverized by high speed blades, hammers, or rotating disks.
SaintyCo pulverizers reduce particle size with micrometer control. Our machines are engineered to produce powders as fine as 20 mesh using impact, shear, compression, or centrifugal force to crush and grind materials down. Our pulverizing machines may also include additional, complementary functionalities like drying and classifying.
Typically, a SaintyCo pulverizer will fit in near the start of your production line. Once the material is pulverized, it’s ready for further processing downstream by granulators, spheronizers, tablet pressers, or other machinery.
Types Of Pulverizing Machines
SaintyCo pulverizing machines can be broken down into various categories. Here are the main types of pulverizers we offer, according to the grinding process mechanics.

Great for ultrafine grades. Uses compressed air or inert gas to collide particles.

Materials are slowly ground up by tumbling with heavy balls in a rotating chamber.

Friction grinding between two grooved discs, popular for medium powder fineness.

Uses compression and rotating rollers, best for low dust and soft to medium-hard substances.

Uses rotating blades to shear fibrous or elastic materials like roots, leaves, or gummy substances.

High speed hammers use impact force to shatter particles, ideal for hard and dry materials.

Counter-rotating discs with intermeshing pins mill brittle materials into fine powders.

Features a rapidly rotating turbine, commonly used for heat-sensitive ingredients.
Pulverizing Machines By Thermal Capability
We cater to a range of diverse pulverizing needs, whether you’re working with heat or moisture-sensitive ingredients.

Uses liquid nitrogen at sub-zero temperatures to freeze and fracture materials.

Ideal for temperature-sensitive APIs that may lose potency when exposed to heat.

Our standard, general-purpose set up is a cost-effective option for materials stable at room temp.

Evaporates moisture from hygroscopic materials during the grinding process using heated air.

Components And Stages Of Pulverizing
There are multiple processing steps which can be customized for each pulverizing machine. Here are the six key stages along with common options for every module.

Our feeding configurations include gravity fed setups, like SS hoppers and agitators. We also offer vacuum systems, screw feeders, and cryogenic pre-feed chambers.

In our hot air systems with a drying module, wetness is removed from the material. It’s exhausted through a dehumidification unit with moisture sensors to monitor the process.

We offer many grinding options, including pin discs, milling plates, hammer sets, impact rotors, shear rotors, and turbine blades, plus jet nozzles for frictionless micronization.

Particles are screened so only the right size is collected. Oversizes are recycled. This is done via vibrating mesh screens, dynamic air classifiers, sieving units, or rotary sifters.

Our smart systems maintain temperature for ingredient integrity—particularly important for volatile compounds and APIs. We offer air, water, and liquid nitrogen cooling systems.

Our machines include HEPA filtration units and dust extraction ports for maximum hygiene, and use vacuum transfer to connect directly to downstream machinery.
Cleanroom-Compliant Pulverizers
Our pulverizing machines are fully compliant with GMP, cGMP, and ISO 14644 cleanroom standards. We fabricate all the components from 304 or 316L SS with mirror polishing (Ra ≤0.4 μm). There are no internal crevices that could trap reside, all surfaces are smoothed and rounded.

From R&D To Full-Scale
Our laboratory-scale models start with throughputs from just 5 kg/h, making our machinery accessible to clients even at the early stages of their product development. For scaling up, our mid-range machines are still affordable to encourage your growth. At the highest level, our systems deliver 3,000+ kg/h continuously. All our pulverizers are designed for modular expansion making it easy to adapt without replacing the entire machine.

Integration With Upstream And Downstream Equipment
Although we offer pulverizing machines as standalone tools (often used in teaching laboratories or product development stages), most of our machines are integral parts of processing lines. Typically, you might integrate a pulverizer with upstream equipment like bulk bag unloaders, pre-breakers (and coarse grinders), vacuum conveyers, dosing systems, and pre-cooling units.
Downstream connections from your SaintyCo pulverizer might be inline sifters, classifiers, powder mixers or blenders, granulators (like pharmaceutical roller compactors), tablet pressing machines, capsule filling machines, powder filling lines, or packaging machines like bottle fillers.
SaintyCo pulverizing machines communicate with upstream and downstream equipment using IIOT technology. They feature PLC and optional SCADA interfaces and support shared batch recipes, data logging, and coordinated start/stop and alarm functionality. If you’re interested in a turnkey project SaintyCo is a one-stop-shop. We can design your entire line according to your unique facility layout and production aims, and provide full installation and commissioning support.
Our inline pulverizing machines are designed to be integrated into an existing (or new) production line, whereas our standalone models can be used independently.
